Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir expressed confidence that Indonesia will meet its target of 82 gold medals at the 2025 ASEAN Para Games in Thailand, scheduled for 20 to 26 January 2026
“The athletes are well prepared and highly motivated, and I am confident they can achieve the target of 82 gold medals,” he said during the official send-off of the Indonesian contingent in Jakarta on Saturday (20/1/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
Indonesia is sending 290 athletes, supported by 106 coaches, 55 officials, and 16 team managers, to compete in 18 sports. In addition to gold medals, the contingent is also targeting 77 silver and 77 bronze medals.
Minister Erick noted that Indonesia has a strong track record, having finished as overall champion in the last three editions of the regional para-sport event.
He also urged athletes to stay focused, citing Thailand as host nation and Vietnam and Malaysia as key competitors. The ASEAN Para Games is Southeast Asia’s largest multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities.
