Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia is set to host the 2026 Queen Sirikit Cup golf championship, bringing together golfers from across the Asia Pacific region.
The announcement came after golf delegates convened in New Zealand on 22 March 2024, as reported by antaranews.com.
Adi Saksono, Head of Championships and Achievements at the Indonesian Golf Association (PGI), emphasized on Saturday (30/3/2024) the trust placed in Indonesian golf under PGI Chairman Japto Soelistyo Soerjosoemarno's leadership.
The Queen Sirikit Cup is a prestigious team tournament in the Asia Pacific, with the final championship scheduled for March 18-23, 2024, in New Zealand.
Indonesia has previously hosted the event three times, in 1980, 1994, and 2009. Now, it will serve as host for the fourth time in 2026.
Saksono expressed optimism about the championship's positive impact on Indonesia, particularly in tourism and the creative economy.
PGI seeks support from all stakeholders to ensure the success of the event, aiming for Indonesia to excel both in organization and winning titles.
