Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian Ambassador Nurmala Kartini Pandjaitan Sjahrir formally initiated her diplomatic mission in Tokyo this Tuesday (17/2/2026) by submitting her credentials to the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Both nations are committed to strengthening diplomatic relations and increasing cooperation in various strategic fields as a foundation for sustainable benefit," Ambassador Kartini said, as cited by antaranews.com.
During the meeting with Chief of Protocol Ambassador Miyashita Tadayuki, she reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to elevating bilateral ties through a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The mission prioritizes critical sectors, including defense, security, and economic collaboration, alongside a strong focus on human resource development and cultural exchanges.
The handover of the credentials copy officially authorizes Ambassador Kartini to serve as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Japan and the Federated States of Micronesia. A formal ceremony with Emperor Naruhito is expected to follow shortly.
