Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia’s national rice stock has reached 3.18 million tons, the highest level in 23 years, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman said on Saturday (26/4/2026).

The rice is currently stored in warehouses operated by state logistics agency Bulog.

“This is a historic milestone—possibly the highest since independence,” said Minister Amran  during a national coordination meeting attended by 37,000 agricultural officers, as quoted by antara news.com.

He credited the achievement to coordinated efforts by farmers, agricultural officials, the military and police, and state-owned enterprises such as Bulog and Pupuk Indonesia. National rice production rose 50–62% between January and April 2025, based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

“With many neighboring countries facing food shortages, Indonesia stands out as a rice surplus nation,” he said, citing Malaysia, the Philippines, and Japan among those struggling with supply.
