Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has warned the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections to remain alert to the threat of espionage disguised as foreign tourists or refugees.

“In the current global situation, we must be cautious. They may not enter solely as tourists or asylum seekers because some could be spies,” he said at a coordination meeting on Monday (4/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com

Chief Sigit noted that foreign espionage agents may seek to collect intelligence or destabilize national security, often under the guise of civilian travel.

“Countries have interests to protect their own security and weaken others. This is a reality we must not ignore,” he said.

During the same event, the INP and the Ministry signed several cooperation agreements, including on intelligence training for immigration officers and information-sharing on detainees, juveniles, and non-organic firearms.

Minister Agus Andrianto emphasized that collaboration with the police is essential for effectively managing on-the-ground challenges.
