Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Agency uncovered 755 cases of subsidized fuel and LPG misappropriation across Indonesia between 2025 and April 2026, securing massive quantities of diverted energy reserves.
"Our intensive enforcement alongside regional police has uncovered systemic abuse of subsidized commodities, resulting in the arrest of hundreds of suspects nationwide," said Brigadier General Moh. Irhamni, the Director of Specific Crimes, during a press briefing on Tuesday (7/4/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
Investigations revealed that syndicates typically hoarded subsidized diesel and Pertalite fuel to resell at industrial prices, while LPG scammers illegally transferred contents from 3kg subsidized canisters into 12kg and 50kg non-subsidized tanks.
Authorities seized over 1.2 million liters of fuel and thousands of gas canisters, with suspects now facing up to six years in prison and Rp60 billion in fines. Additionally, investigators are applying money laundering statutes to seize all illicit assets funneled into personal accounts or high-value purchases.
