Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo has ordered his subordinates to strictly monitor the distribution of the 2026 State Budget welfare programs.
The directive was issued after the tragic suicide of a 10-year-old student in Ngada, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), reportedly driven by his family's economic hardship.
Chief Dedi emphasized that police must proactively identify vulnerable families and assist local governments in verifying data to ensure that social assistance, such as food subsidies and "Free Nutritious Meals," reaches those in extreme poverty.
"I instruct sub-regional police chiefs alongside local administrations to frequently visit the field to observe objective conditions. Directly record families in extreme poverty, help verify data, and assist the community in accessing all government aid programs," said Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo on Friday (6/2/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The police will oversee several key initiatives, including health checks for 130 million people and financial aid for over 18 million households. This "boots-on-the-ground" approach aims to bridge the gap between policy and implementation, ensuring state presence at the grassroots level to prevent similar tragedies.
