Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police Food Task Force and the Trade Policy Agency of the Ministry of Trade conducted an on-site inspection at Kebayoran Lama Market, South Jakarta, on Friday (28/2/2025) to monitor staple food prices and availability ahead of Ramadan.
According to Senior Superintendent Edy Suranta Sitepu, the Head of Sub-Directorate I of the Criminal Investigation Agency’s Economic and Special Crimes Directorate, price increases were observed in key commodities such as chilies, onions, and rice. However, overall food stock remains sufficient.
“We have inspected several storage facilities to prevent hoarding that could trigger shortages or artificial price hikes,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
To support affordability, the government and state-owned postal company PT Pos Indonesia, has launched low-cost markets nationwide, allowing the public to purchase essential goods at lower prices.
The task force also urged traders to maintain fair pricing and committed to ongoing monitoring throughout Ramadan to safeguard market stability.
