Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) are investigating nickel mining operations in Raja Ampat, Southwest Papua, following the government’s revocation of several mining licenses.
“We are investigatin itg. I can’t make any further statement at this time,” said Brigadier General Nunung Syaifuddin, the Director of Specific Crimes at the iNP Criminal Investigation Agency, on Wednesday (11/6/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The probe targets four companies—PT Anugerah Surya Pratama, PT Nurham, PT Mulia Raymond Perkasa, and PT Kawei Sejahtera Mining—whose permits were recently revoked for violating environmental and coastal regulations.
When asked about state-owned PT GAG Nikel, which operates on Gag Island, Nunung said, “We’ll look into it.”
The investigation was triggered by internal police findings regarding environmental damage and the obligation of mining firms to provide reclamation guarantees.
