Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Indonesian National Police (INP) Narcotics Crime Directorate, along with the Sabhara K-9 Narcotics Team, foiled a smuggling attempt of 80 kilograms of methamphetamine and various narcotics at Bakauheni Port, Lampung.
Sabhara, part of the INP's Security Maintenance Agency, focuses on maintaining public order and security. According to Senior Superintendent Erdi A. Chaniaga, the Section Head of Public Information Unit at the INP's Public Relations Division, the operation occurred during a 10-day Seaport Interdiction from 3 to 12 March 2024. The operation led to the arrest of eight suspects and the seizure of 80,000 grams of methamphetamine, 1,006 ecstasy pills, and 2,309 grams of marijuana. Chief Erdi noted that six K9 dogs, including German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, and Labradors, with a scent detection ability of 600 million receptors, were deployed in the operation. Trained handlers and protective personnel with K9 handler certification handled these dogs. The operation targeted vehicles passing through the ferry crossing at Bakauheni Port, with K9 dogs detecting narcotics through behaviors such as biting, scratching, or barking. The seized evidence will undergo further investigation.
