inp.polri.go.id - East Flores. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Medical Unit, in collaboration with the Health Department of East Flores, provides routine medical check up for the refugees of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki eruption.

Four health service posts have been established in Konga Village, Bokang Village, Lewolaga Village, and Lewoingu Village to ensure the medical needs of the affected community are met.

The medical team is tasked with treating various diseases such as coughs, colds, and Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) which are common complaints due to exposure to volcanic dust and less than ideal environmental conditions.

The Head of East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police Public Relations Division, Senior Superintendent Ariasandy directly went to the location to supervise the medical check up and stressed that maintaining the physical condition of the refugees are important despite the difficult situation.

“This medical service was held to ensure the physical condition of the refugees are maintained. Our medical personnel will be on standby at every evacuation post to provide the optimal service for the people,” says Ariasandy.

In addition to health checks, the medical team also provided education related to disease prevention, distributed vitamins, and distributed masks to the evacuees.

This step was taken to increase endurance and minimize the negative impacts of volcanic dust that is still exposed in the evacuation area.

This activity received a positive response from the evacuees. They felt helped by the presence of the medical team who provided free health services directly on site.

These inspection activities will continue until the situation around Mount Lewotobi is declared safe and evacuees can return to their respective homes.
