INP PR Division Strengthens Members Capabilities in North Maluku

Inp.polri.go.id – North Maluku. The Information and Documentation Management Bureau of Indonesian National Police (INP) Public Relations Division gives technical guidance and excluded information consequence review for the ranks of North Maluku Regional Police Public Relations Division. The event was opened by the Deputy Head of North Maluku Regional Police Brigadier General Samudi. In his opening remarks, Samudi conveys his gratitude for the event. According to him, his party is open in providing information access to the public. However, as regulated by the law, police could refrain from providing excluded information. “Other than information that could be easily accessed by the public, there are also excluded information. For example, the information of case review and investigation process is part of excluded information,” explained Samudi on Wednesday (3/6/2024). Furthermore, Samudi also instructed his PR Division personnel to continue maintaining good relationship and cooperation with mass media to provide information for the public. Meanwhile, the message of INP PR Division Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho for the opening remarks, which was conveyed by Head of Analysis and Evaluation of the Information and Documentation Bureau of INP PR Division, Senior Superintendent Iroth Laurens Recky, states that the activity is part of the INP Chief priority programs for the PR Division. In one of his priority programs, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo lists that they need to strengthen public communication. “Where the police is responsible in providing the information openly to improve the image of INP,” reads Iroth. According to him, now is the era of where public information could be accessed freely. However, other than providing the information, police also has the rights to keep certain information from the public as regulated in Article 6 Law No 14 of 2008. In keeping those certain information from the public, they will have to get through process and mechanism of excluded information consequence review, and will later be then determined in a letter determining the results of the consequence review. “The results of the excluded information consequence trial will act as the legal basis to reject providing the information to the requester,” explained Iroth Moreover, Iroth explained that later on the North Maluku Regional Police PR Division would release Excluded Information List (DIK), which is in accordance to the regulations in the law. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Institution and Information Commission Sector of North Maluku Province, Maryani Yusuf explained that in the Information Commission Regulation Number 1 of 2017 of public information classification, there are daily information, immediate information, periodic information and excluded information. Yusuf explained that the information shared to the public is the information generated, stored, managed, sent or received by a public agency. “The responsibility of public agency is providing, disclosing and providing public information quickly and accurately, with minimal time and cost, while also providing public information that is accurate, true, and not misleading," he said.
