Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) are reviewing the placement of more than 4,300 active officers serving in ministries and state institutions after the Constitutional Court ruled that police personnel may no longer hold civilian posts unless they resign or retire.

The INP have formed a rapid-response working group to ensure the ruling is implemented consistently across government.

“The INP Chief has gathered all relevant senior officials, and the INP will establish a working group to conduct a swift and comprehensive assessment,” INP Head of Public Relations Inspector General Sandi Nugroho said on Monday (17/11/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.

Police data show that around 300 officers currently occupy managerial or echelon positions, while more than 4,000 others serve in non-managerial roles such as staff, investigators, aides, and security escorts.

Chief Sandi stressed that all assignments follow a formal mechanism involving requests from ministries, competency assessments, and presidential decrees for higher-level positions.

The INP will coordinate with ministries to avoid misinterpretation of the ruling, which annulled a clause that previously allowed active officers to assume civilian posts through internal assignment.
