Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Traffic Corps of Indonesian National Police (INP) is considering to use electric cars into its patrol fleet.
"We are in the process of planning to provide electric cars for police personnel. The specific number of electric vehicles to be provided is yet to be determined and is contingent on budgetary provisions. However, our objective is clear, that is to make significant strides in reducing air pollution. The 'Go Green' initiative must commence with us as government officials," said Head of Traffic Corps Inspector General Firman Santyabudi on Sunday (10/9/23), "
This proposal not only underscores the Government's unwavering commitment to curbing pollution, but also signifies a pivotal shift away from fossil fuel dependency towards electrically-powered vehicles.
"As part of the government, yesterday's suggestions from the leadership were explained in forums and meetings, with the goal of transitioning from fossil fuel vehicles to electric," he emphasized.
The general further revealed that his office has already set forth a proposal to employ electric vehicles for motorbike patrols this year, affirming, "We have initiated the use of electric vehicles. Additionally, we received support from the State Secretariat during the G20 Summit. Currently, our goal is to strike a balance between fossil fuel and electric vehicles."
While underscoring the positive strides towards sustainability, he emphasized that the availability of state funding remains a crucial determinant for the integration of electric vehicles into the patrol fleet.
"Since electric vehicles are a relatively recent addition and may entail substantial costs, the extent of their deployment is contingent on the state's financial capacity. We are committed to strategically combining procurement efforts, ensuring a diverse fleet that includes both fossil fuel and electric vehicles," General Firman concluded.
