inp.polri.go.id - The Strategic Initiative for Transportation (INSTRAN) condemns the arson, destruction, and vandalism of a number of public facilities in Indonesia, especially public transportation services such as Transjakarta bus stops and Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) stations in Jakarta.

"Whoever the perpetrator is, this action cannot be tolerated because it disrupts public services. The public is the one who suffers from the damage to public service facilities," said INSTRAN Chairman M. Budi Susandi in a press release in Jakarta on Sunday (8/31/2025).

INSTRAN also expressed its deep condolences for the loss of life during the demonstrations in Jakarta, Makassar, and other parts of Indonesia.

In addition, INSTRAN encourages all parties to convey and listen to democratic demands in a peaceful and orderly manner so as not to impact public facilities, especially public transportation as the foundation of citizen mobility and the economy.

INSTRAN also asked all parties to continue to jointly safeguard public facilities so that public services are not disrupted during and after the demonstration, and asked the Indonesian National Police and the Indonesian National Military to safeguard public service facilities during the demonstration so that there is no destruction or burning of public facilities.

INSTRAN emphasizes that public facilities are a form of the state's presence in responding to public needs and all parties are responsible for maintaining and safeguarding public facilities so that they continue to function as they should.
