Inp.polri.go.id – Tarakan. The Transportation Safety National Committee (KNKT) assessed that it is still too soon to identify the cause of Smart Air airplane in Tarakan, North Kalimantan. Chair of KNKT, Soerjanto Tjahjono states that they cannot recklessly released investigation result of the accident to the public. He says that his party needs to examine the Black Box of the plane for investigation and questioned the pilot who survived the crash. “He is still not okay, we still have to wait for him to recover. It is still too soon to state the cause of the accident because we have not examined the black box, interview the witness, and align all the evidence found from the investigation,” said KNKT head quoted from RRI on Wednesday (3/13/2024). In handling this case, KNKT has to acquire the clear chronology of the case. If that is acquired, then KNTK will announce the investigation result to the public. “We will eventually announce it to the public. If everything goes smoothly and accordingly, we will able to convey it in less than a year,” stressed Soerjanto. Furthermore, Soerjanto gave important advice to the Indonesian aviation regarding the consistency in implementing safety procedure and regulation. “We will have to look back on the existing regulation. If the existing regulation is enough, it is only a matter of how we implement it consistently and actively,” conclude Soerjanto. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
