Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Archbishop of Jakarta Cardinal Ignatius Suharyo has called on Catholics and the wider public to remain clear-minded and steadfast in responding to ongoing demonstrations and unrest across Indonesia.
“In these circumstances, I urge the faithful, especially Catholics in the Archdiocese of Jakarta, to maintain clarity and firmness of stance,” he said in a short video message released Monday (1/9/2025)by the Archdiocese.
The Archbishop also encouraged Indonesians to strengthen social solidarity for the common good.
“As citizens with different roles, we are called to bear the historic responsibility laid out in the Preamble of the 1945 Constitution. Let us protect Indonesia together,” he added.
Separately, Archdiocesan Secretary Vincentius Adi Prasojo urged restraint during a Sunday Mass, asking people to avoid violence, safeguard one another, and seek reliable information. He called on all communities to pray for peace and a swift return to normalcy.
