Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Trade claimed that the suspension of TikTok’s live feature has no impact on the country’s digital commerce.
The feature was disabled on 30 August 2025 following demonstrations in several regions, but online transactions remain unaffected.
“There is no impact. The live feature was only used for the recent demonstrations. E-commerce activities continue as usual,” said Iqbal Shoffan Shofwan, the Director General of Domestic Trade at the Trade Ministry, on Monday (1/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
He explained that TikTok cannot conduct transactions directly through live streaming. Instead, the platform partners with e-commerce companies such as Tokopedia to facilitate online purchases.
“TikTok is not allowed to run e-commerce itself, so there is no effect,” Iqbal added.
Earlier, Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid noted that TikTok had voluntarily suspended the live feature and expressed hope the decision would not be prolonged.
