Inp.polri.go.id - - Jakarta. The Jakarta administration is stepping up its promotion of local fashion at Paris Fashion Week as part of its broader cultural diplomacy and global creative economy efforts.
“We want Jakarta to be more than a spectator in the global fashion scene—we aim to be a key player representing Indonesia’s cultural identity,” said Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno in a statement on Monday (19/5/2025) following his official meeting with Paris Fashion Week President Pascal Morand and other senior organizers.
During the meeting, he and the delegation wore traditional batik, symbolizing Jakarta’s commitment to showcasing Indonesia’s cultural richness on the world stage. Paris Fashion Week organizers welcomed Jakarta’s participation and expressed interest in long-term collaboration, noting the strong potential of Indonesian fashion—particularly from Jakarta—in the European market, as reported by antaranews.com.
In addition to fashion promotion, the Paris Fashion Week team signaled a willingness to support vocational education development in Jakarta, including knowledge exchange, mentorship, and internship opportunities for fashion students in France.
