Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has ordered a comprehensive audit of building safety across the capital following a series of fires, including a deadly blaze that killed 22 people in Central Jakarta.

The inspection targets densely populated areas and buildings whose functions or structures have changed without adequate safety standards.

“I have instructed all relevant agencies to recheck and audit building feasibility to prevent similar incidents,” Governor Pramono said on Saturday (13/12/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The audit involves the city’s spatial planning, public works, and licensing agencies and focuses on access routes, fire safety systems, and storage of hazardous materials. The move comes after investigators found poor internal access and unsafe battery storage in a multi-story shop-house that burned last week.

Police are handling the criminal investigation, while the Jakarta administration has taken responsibility for victim recovery, including health services and burial support.

Authorities expect the audit to tighten licensing enforcement, improve compliance, and reduce fire risks in urban buildings across Jakarta.
