Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The number of victims injured in the SMA 72 high school explosion in North Jakarta has risen to 96, police confirmed Saturday (8/11/2025). 

The blast, which occurred during Friday prayers at the school’s mosque inside the Navy’s Kodamar complex, left dozens with burns and shrapnel wounds.

“The latest count is 96 victims, with 29 hospitalized,” said Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, adding that one victim remains in intensive care.

Police discovered suspicious powder at the suspect’s home, which is now being tested by the Forensic Lab. The suspect, a student reportedly bullied by peers, underwent head surgery and remains in intensive care under guard.

Densus 88 anti-terrorism squad is investigating whether the attack is linked to terrorist networks, though no evidence has surfaced yet. Authorities have urged the public to avoid speculation as investigations continue.
