Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Heavy-duty vehicles in Jakarta that exceed emission limits may face up to six months in jail or fines of up to Rp 50 million, according to the Jakarta Environment Agency.
"This is based on Article 41 paragraph 2 of Regional Regulation No. 2/2005 on Air Pollution Control," said Asep Kuswanto, the Head of Jakarta’s Environment Agency, on Monday (21/7/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
Joint inspections by environmental, transport, and police units were conducted on Daan Mogot Street, targeting diesel trucks and large vehicles, identified by Vital Strategies and WRI as major PM2.5 polluters in Greater Jakarta.
Out of 24 tested vehicles, seven failed, consisting of six cargo trucks and one intercity bus. Violators will face minor criminal court proceedings on 29 July 2025.
