Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jakarta’s Food, Marine, and Agriculture Security Office (KPKP) is urging residents to report any locations selling dog or cat meat for consumption, following the enforcement of Governor Regulation No. 36/2025 on the control of rabies-transmitting animals.
“We guarantee the confidentiality of all reporters, so there is no need to be afraid,” said KPKP Head Hasudungan Sidabalok on Monday (8/12/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The regulation bans the sale, slaughter, and use of rabies-carrier animals for food. Violations by businesses, including food stalls and animal traders, may result in written warnings, confiscation, forced closure, or permit revocation.
The Jakarta administration will also conduct inspections across markets, restaurants, and animal-trade sites to prevent covert sales. Coordination will involve the transportation agency, subdistrict offices, and micro, small and medium enterprises authorities.
Jakarta positions the regulation as part of its commitment to becoming a healthy, rabies-free, and animal-friendly city, with authorities stressing that public participation is essential to safeguard both human and animal welfare.
