Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung announced that employees earning up to Rp 6.2 million per month, or 1.15 times the city’s minimum wage, are now eligible for free rides on TransJakarta, MRT, and LRT.
“This applies not only to civil servants but also to private-sector workers,” he told reporters on Friday (7/11/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
The new policy, outlined in Governor Regulation No. 33/2025, expands free access to 15 categories of passengers, which is up from 13 previously, as part of Jakarta’s push to encourage public transport use. The city’s minimum wage currently stands at Rp 5.3 million.
Governor Pramono said the initiative is expected to boost public transport use to 30 percent, from the current 24 percent, helping reduce traffic congestion and air pollution.
“If we reach that target, Jakarta’s long-standing problems with congestion and pollution will be much more manageable,” he added.
