Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. In a display of cooperation, the Indonesian National Police (INP) and Immigration authorities arrested Yasuke Yamazaki (YY), a fugitive sought by the Japanese government, in the waters of Batam. "Batam Immigration Office and the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in the Riau Islands collaborated with the Barelang Sub-regional Police's Water and Air Police Uni, as well as the INP's International Relations Division to arrest the Interpol wanted person," said Senior Superintendent Erdi  A. He said that Yamazaki's arrest began when personnel from the Barelang Police conducted a patrol in the Waters of Bulan Island, Bulang District, Batam City last month. During the patrol, they discovered a boat carrying seven passengers: one male as the boat captain, one male as the crew member, and five passengers comprising one foreigners, two Indonesian me, and two Indonesian women . All passengers, including the captain and crew, were taken to the Barelang Police Office for further examination. Subsequently, one foreign national was handed over by the Barelang Police to the Batam Immigration Office. Following an in-depth examination by the Barelang  Police, the detainee who initially claimed to be Hajime Hatanaka, was found to be Yasuke Yamazaki, whose name is listed in Interpol's blue notice. "He entered Indonesian territory on 2 April 2021 through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport," Erdi added. Yamazaki is the president of Nishiyama Farm, a company engaged in agritourism management in Akaiwa City, Okayama Prefecture.
