The Indonesian President Joko Widodo inaugurates the construction of the Special Sub-regional Police of Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, on Thursday (12/21/2023). The construction of the police headquarters reportedly cost around IDR 160 billion.
“We are grateful that this morning, we will place the first stone in the construction of IKN Sub-regional Police. The construction of this building will take around nine months with a cost of IDR 160 billion,” says President Jokowi.
Jokowi reveals that the police HQ will have the size of around 6,189 meters square and build on a land of 12 hectares.
“One more thing, because this is a special Sub-regional police in IKN, I have personally asked that the building is designed with the concept of green building as this province is a green environment,” Jokowi adds.
According to the reports of Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, there will be CCTV in every corner of the city that connects to the command center.
Regarding the advanced technology implemented in the city, Jokowi have previously asked for that to be prepared as he aims to promote IKN as the capital city that is safe and free from crimes.
“It is so that this city could be the prime example for the other cities, which obviously the management has to be prepared optimally,” pray Jokowi.
Later on, the Sub-regional Police would be reinforced with 750 personnel where it will covers six sectoral police.
“I am happy that there have been personnel deployed and prepared in East Kalimantan, so then when the construction has finished, the force could be immediately moved to IKN,” explains the president.
Jokowi hopes INP could improve the service and protection for the people, and strengthen their law enforcement.
