inp.polri.go.id - West Bandung. The Indonesian National Police (INP) K9 Detachment Unit, Search and Rescue Directorate prepares for disaster response in Cisarua, West Bandung.
In the rescue mission, the K9 Detachment Unit is to send 20 personnel, led by First Police Inspector Erasmus.
To support mobility and effectiveness in disaster areas, the K9 team is also equipped with a truck and four special purpose vehicles.
Head of Public Relations for the West Java Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Hendra Rochmawan, stated that the deployment of the K9 SAR team is a strategic step by the INP to expedite the search for victims in the highly challenging landslide-affected terrain.
"The deployment of the K9 SAR team demonstrates the seriousness and commitment of the polic to our humanitarian mission. We are deploying all resources maximally, quickly, and measurably to ensure the search for victims is effective, while ensuring that the information disseminated to the public is accurate and accountable," said Hendra.
According to official data from the Main Command Post and the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Post, as of Sunday, January 25, 2026, out of a total of 105 missing persons reports, the joint SAR team has recovered 25 body bags, an increase of three intact bodies from the latest search results. Of these, 11 victims have been identified, consisting of 10 intact bodies and one body part.
Hendra emphasized that INP will continue to collaborate with the Indonesian National Military (TNI), Basarnas (National Search and Rescue Agency), BNPB (National Disaster Mitigation Agency), BPBD (Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency), local governments, and volunteers until all victims are found and evacuated.
Search and evacuation operations are ongoing, prioritizing personnel safety and thoroughness at every stage.
