inp.polri.go.id - East Manggarai. Landslides have struck East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) again. Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds caused a landslide in Tuwa Hamlet, Goreng Meni Village, Lamba Leda District, East Manggarai Regency, on Friday (1/23/2026), resulting in casualties and damage to people's homes.
Following up on the incident, the East Manggarai Sub-regional Police, along with the Regional Government, immediately moved quickly to coordinate and inspect the disaster site. Since morning, police members, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) personnel, and related agencies have been on the ground to ensure integrated response measures.
East Manggarai Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Haryanto, stated that they are present to ensure public safety and assist in the search for victims buried by the landslide.
"We are immediately coordinating with the local government and relevant agencies to expedite disaster management. The main priority is the search for victims still buried and the evacuation of people to safer locations," said Haryanto.
According to preliminary data, four houses were buried by the landslide, resulting in four casualties. Of these, two are listed as missing due to being buried under the landslide debris, while two others were evacuated to the Benteng Jawa Community Health Center. However, one victim, Albina Ria, was pronounced dead after receiving medical treatment.
