Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura.  The Commander of the Damai Cartenz Task Force, Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, confirmed that an armed  criminal group (KKG) in Intan Jaya fatally shot a civilian named Joni Hendra while he was working at his kiosk in Wandoga Village, Sugapa District, Central  Papua, on Friday (25/7/2025).

"The suspect, identified as Yonial Kobogah, a member of the KKB led by Apen Kobogau, approached the kiosk and shot the victim at close range using a short-barreled firearm," he said in a statement, as quoted by antaranews.com

Chief Faizal added that the incident occurred around 1.40 pm local time while the victim was serving a customer. The suspect immediately fled the scene toward the hilly area above Wandoga Village.

The victim was rushed to Bilorai Health Center but was declared dead due to gunshot wounds. In response, the Damai Cartenz Task Force secured the area and launched a coordinated manhunt to pursue the shooter.

Deputy Chief of the Damai Cartenz Task Force, Senior Superintendent Adarma Sinaga, noted that Yonial Kobogah is also suspected of being involved in a previous shooting incident near Bilorai Airport earlier this week.

Damai Cartenz Task Force spokesperson, Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo, urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with authorities by providing any relevant information about the suspect.
