inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. On Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the rally courtyard of Yapen Islands Departmental Police Headquarter, a press release was held regarding the surrender of the KKB (Armed Criminal Group) of Ambaidru village of Kosiwo district to the Yapen Islands Departmental Police. The event was attended by Assistant 2, representing the Yapen Islands regent, Edy Mudumi, Head of Nation and Political Unity, Sony Woria, Primary Officials of Yapen Islands Departmental Police, and the village heads. Chief of Departmental Police said, "We, as part of the security forces in here: Yapen Islands Departmental Police and 1709/Yawa Military District Command, has a high commitment to secure our region. We consider the Yapen society as our part of the family. We, Armed Forces-Police and the regional government, won't stay silent. Therefore, after the law enforcement activity yesterday, we keep conducting persuasive and humane law enforcement to provide understandings and convince my dear brothers and sisters that Armed Forces-Police personnel in Yapen Islands are not enemy, but the family of yours". "We are here to assist the regional government to build Yapen Islands and accelerate welfare so it can be felt by all parts of the community, either on education or health. For now, we are also focusing on protecting the community and guarding them in celebrating Christmas on December 25, 2021. We have to ensure the celebration runs peacefully, safely, joyous, and solemnly so that our Christmas-cleebrating brothers could worship peacefully", he explained. Chief of Departmental Police added, "We warmly welcomed the concrete efforts of all my brothers and sisters to come here and surrender and declared that we are all Indonesians. Papua has been Indonesia's all along, and Indonesia is Papua. There should never be other struggles, no more people declaring the independent Papua or West Papua as a country". "As the future generation, this is our country: the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. It's time for us to welfare our community by improving human resources quality, mainly in the Yapen Islands regency. From health and education-wise, let's also keep our brothers, sisters, and parents away from disease. Moreover, during this Covid-19 pandemic". On the same occasion, the Commander of 1708 Yawa Military District said, "The presence of Armed Forces and Police is not to scare the people. We all want to advance the development of the Yapen Islands and, as information, as per the instruction from the Commander of the Armed Forces, we have to wake up our opposition friends that we are part of Indonesia, so there should be no more thought on Independent Papua. We would be proud and willing to create cooperation between Armed Forces and Police with our colleagues in this region, who have the high sanity to return to pledge alliance to the Motherland." "I thanked and proud of the community, mainly the Yapen Islands regency government and the village head that has been working hard to convince everyone to grow willingness inside them to return to Indonesia without any pressures", he continued. At the same time, one of the surrendering KKB group members said, "We had been following the wrong path. Therefore, now we want to return to unite and materialise the Indonesian unity. Mr Chief of Departmental Police already stated that we don't have to be independent. We all agree to send ourselves here and admit to our wrongdoings. Therefore, we are now willing to return and join together in advancing Indonesia". Chief of PR Task Force of Nemangkawi, Police Grand Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, also advised other communities to follow their brothers and sisters' path who surrendered to Indonesia so that community security and order situation could be more conducive and the focus could be directed to improving human resources and infrastructures to support community to achieve welfare.
