inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) has prepared several systems to anticipate traffic jams during the 2022 Eid homecoming, including traffic engineering on toll roads, arterial routes, and tourist areas.
"Officers will carry out parking arrangements, including arrangements in the areas prone to traffic jams by the analysis team. The toll lanes that have the potential to become jammed are at toll gates, bottlenecks, and rest areas. The vehicle that experienced a problem in the middle of the road also has the potential to make the road becomes jammed," The Head of the Korlantas Operational Section, Eddy Djunaedi, said on Thursday (21/4/22).
As for the obstacles in the arterial route, there is a spilled market, and donations for the construction of places of worship to railroad crossings. He hoped that the public is aware of and knows when there is a traffic jam.
"Preparations for the surge in people who travels to their hometown have been carried out since February. The anticipation system has been formulated. The prediction for the peak of the homecoming flow is from April 28 to May 1, while the return flow is from May 6 to 8," explained Eddy Djunaedi.
Before April 28, Korlantas Polri would conduct a contraflow and odd-even test on May 22 and 23. He hopes that with this socialization the community will not violate and obey traffic rules.
"Based on a joint decree, there are vehicles who are excepted from these systems, they are vehicles for the President, Vice President, Ministers, members of the DPR-MPR, Ambassadors, official vehicles, ambulances, yellow plates, vehicles with disabilities, and certain transportation vehicles such as ATM money fillers," explained Eddy.
Korlantas Polri had deployed 144,392 police personnel, with 876 of them are from Polri and 87,004 others are from regional police officers, while the rest were from related agencies. In addition, the National Police established 2702 posts, consisting of 1,710 security posts, 730 service posts, and 258 integrated posts.
"We urge, as stated by the Head of Korlantas so that people are obeying the laws of traffic and obey the existing regulations. He also implores the people to leave early to avoid congestion. And continue to comply with health procedures." he explained.
