Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) is advocating for the rehabilitation of children who have become victims of online gambling. Kawiyan, the Commissioner of KPAI, emphasized that the primary goal of this rehabilitation initiative is to restore the mental well-being of these affected children.
"If schools or communities identify children as victims of online gambling, immediate intervention is crucial for restoring the mental health of our children," he said on Thursday (12/21/23).
He outlined the necessity for Regional Technical Implementation Units to take swift action in addressing children impacted by online gambling. He highlighted the presence of psychologists and social workers within these units, providing collective support and assistance.
Underlining the importance of this support, he asserted that it could save children victimized by online gambling, necessitating rehabilitation for their successful reintegration into society.
Furthermore, he pointed to the harmful effects of online gambling on children, stating, "Online gambling also poses the potential risk of involving children in criminal activities, including the misuse of school funds," he warned.
