Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has barred South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor from leaving the country after naming him as a suspect in a bribery case related to public procurement.

"The travel ban for Governor Sahbirin Noor took effect on 7 October 2024," said KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika on Wednesday (9/10/2024).

He said that the restriction is necessary as his presence is required for the investigation into alleged corruption within the South Kalimantan provincial government. The travel ban lasts six months and may be extended if needed.

On Monday, KPK announced Governor Noor's status as a suspect in the bribery case linked to project tenders in South Kalimantan. Alongside Noor, other suspects include Ahmad Solhan, the South Kalimantan Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency, Yulianti Erlynah, the South Kalimantan Head of the Creative Works Division, and several others.

The projects under scrutiny involve the construction of a soccer field, an integrated Samsat building, and a swimming pool, with a combined value of over Rp 54 billion. The alleged scheme included leaking bid specifications and manipulating the procurement process.
