Inp.polri.go.id - Bandar Lampung. The Chief of Lampung Regional Police, Inspector General Helmy Santika, highlighted the crucial role played by the state’s six pillars in upholding neutrality during the upcoming 2024 election.
The six pillars referred to the Indonesian Military, the Indonesian National Police (INP), the government, the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), the General Elections Commission (KPU), and the community,
"In every phase of the electoral process, I call upon the six pillars to steadfastly maintain their neutrality and abstain from engaging in any form of partisan political activity," he said on Thursday (12/10/23).
Chief Helmy urged for a vigilant and engaged approach from all ranks throughout the electoral stages, emphasizing the importance of comprehensive awareness of each phase to effectively assess the security landscape in anticipation of the 2024 election.
Furthermore, he encouraged these pillars to advise their immediate families to exercise caution in their use of social media, thus contributing to the preservation of public order in the lead-up to the 2024 general election.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Iwan Mahruf Zainuddin, Commander of the 043/Gatam Military Sub-area Command, underscored the forthcoming 2024 election as Indonesia's largest democratic exercise.
"It is imperative to gauge the government's effectiveness in orchestrating this democratic endeavor through the successful execution of the electoral process. We stand prepared to collaborate with the INP, local authorities, KPU, and Bawaslu in fulfillment of our designated roles and responsibilities," he affirmed.
He emphasized Indonesian Military's prudent and impartial approach in accordance with legal provisions that bar personnel from affiliating with political parties, participating in, or being directly involved in partisan political activities, as well as seeking legislative positions in elections or assuming other political roles.
