inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Home Affairs Vice Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Bima Arya Sugiarto asked regional governments to actively coordinate with law enforcement officers in taking action against mass organizations that violate the laws.
In his statement, Bima emphasized the importance of regional heads' role in overseeing the formation and implementation of the Integrated Task Force (Satgas) for Handling Thugs and Mass Organizations under the coordination of the Coordinating Minister (Menko) for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan.
"This task force focuses on thuggery and problematic mass organizations. The focus is on early detection, then early prevention, action, and also law enforcement," said Bima in his statement in Jakarta, Friday (5/30/2025).
He explained that the task force has the authority to take firm action against mass organizations that violate the rules. In addition, the Task Force in the regions, both at the provincial, district, and city levels, can enforce the law when the situation demands it.
According to him, the Ministry of Home Affairs is currently continuing to evaluate and request that the Task Force in the regions be proactive in accommodating public complaints regarding violations by mass organizations. He did not rule out the possibility of imposing sanctions ranging from administrative, criminal, to disbandment.
"So what we want to convey is that we already have the legal apparatus and the rules are clear. All that remains is how the officers at respective levels operate," he said.
On the other hand, Bima added, the Ministry of Home Affairs continues to provide guidance and supervision to mass organizations in the regions. This role is carried out by the National Unity and Politics Agency in the regions, in collaboration with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum and law enforcement officers.
To date several regional heads have taken firm steps in taking action against mass organizations that violate the law.
"There is a time to embrace, accommodate, and foster them. But regional heads certainly understand that there should be a time when the law should be enforced, when firm actions must be put forward when it has crossed the line," concluded Bima.
