inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron declared and signed a strategic cooperation in the field of culture between the two countries.

The signing of the strategic cooperation was carried out when the two heads of state, along with French First Lady Brigitte Macron and the delegation visited the historic site of Borobudur Temple, Magelang, Central Java, Thursday (5/29/2025).

"This morning our ministers of culture and also several actors in the field of culture were present here. And I thank you for the signing of a number of agreements," said President Macron in his remarks at the Borobudur Temple courtyard.

President Macron explained that this cultural partnership will be based on two main pillars.

The first pillar is cooperation in the field of world heritage preservation and museum management.

He stated that Indonesia has a very large wealth of world heritage and France is ready to share its expertise in this field. The cooperation is carried out between the Indonesian Heritage Agency and the Centro de Monuments Nationaux.

The second pillar is to strengthen the cultural industry and creative economy where this industry is at the core of people's lives. This partnership aims to empower the creative and innovative young generations of Indonesia and France.

Several cooperation programs conveyed by President Macron include film collaboration between the French National Cinema Center (Centre national du cinéma/CNC) and the La Fémis film school.

Partnerships in this field include training, dissemination of works, and joint film co-production, as well as building a funding model so that the film industry does not depend on a large funding model as is already running in France.

"I would like to greet all actors from the Indonesian creative industry who are present, whose talents are also known in France, both through gastronomy and famous fashion designers. I would also like to convey the method with a balanced partnership that is mutually beneficial," he said.
