inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor emphasized the importance of implementing a maximum working hour limit of eight hours for logistics vehicle drivers to ensure occupational safety in the transportation sector.
He explained that regulating working hours is a major concern because many drivers that undertake long trips that risk fatigue have inevitably raised traffic accidents on the highway.
"When the deliveries have exceeded that maximum working hours, we will urge and require all companies to use two drivers," said Afriansyah Noor on Tuesday (7/10/2025).
He emphasized this when met after attending a Ministerial Coordination Meeting regarding the Implementation of the National Action Plan for Handling Oversized and Overloaded Vehicles or ODOL.
He continued that the government is encouraging transportation companies to implement a shift work system by preparing two drivers for one long-distance trip so that logistics operations remain safe and efficient.
This policy aligns with the government's efforts to strengthen national transportation safety discipline and improve the welfare of logistics workers, who are a vital part of the national distribution chain.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) requested that the eight-hour workday rule for logistics truck drivers be implemented consistently for the safety, health, and welfare of national transportation workers.
“The thing is this policy already exists, but what has happened unfortunately, it is not enforced properly. Ultimately, many have to pay dearly for this due to many accidents that have occurred,” said AHY.
AHY emphasized that the government shares the same passion for improving the standard of living for logistics truck drivers, who often face difficult social and economic conditions in carrying out their daily duties.
