Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Central Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police revealed that theft of communication provider base transceiver station (BTS) modules has caused losses amounting to Rp120 billion.

Each module is valued at around Rp90 million, according to Central Jakarta Police Chief Senior Superintendent Susatyo Purnomo Condro during a press conference on Monday (14/10/2024).

"These criminals have been operating repeatedly, and our goal is to dismantle their network to prevent further losses," he said, as reported by antaranews.com..

Five suspects, identified as MJ (31), AL (29), TY (34), RCH (25), and AB (49), were arrested in Central Jakarta. MJ posed as a Telkomsel technician using fake identification and stolen equipment, which he then sold to SJ, a Chinese citizen, for Rp 5.9 million per module.

Police seized 227 BTS modules and equipment used in the theft. The stolen goods were set to be shipped to China through a warehouse in Tangerang.

The suspects face charges under Articles 363 and 481 of the Criminal Code, with a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
