inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has ensured protection for 13 victims of alleged human trafficking (TPPO) at a nightclub in Maumere, Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.
LPSK Vice Chairperson Sri Suparyati, in an official statement in Jakarta on Thursday (2/26/2026), stated that victim protection is a top priority as the case moves to the suspect determination phase.
"LPSK has reached out to the victims and ascertained their protection needs. Our principles are clear: victims must be safe, recover, and continue to have access to justice," Sri said.
She explained that since mid-February, LPSK has conducted outreach, in-depth investigations, and assessments of the victims' needs, including security, psychological aspects, and legal assistance.
"The legal process is underway. We have coordinated with the police, and based on the information we received, two suspects have been named, known to be a husband and wife," she explained.
Sri mentioned that NTT Regional Police Chief Rudi Darmoko responded positively and expressed his commitment to support efforts to protect witnesses and victims and strengthen the ongoing law enforcement process.
In addition to coordinating with the NTT Regional Police, LPSK has also submitted an official letter to West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi regarding the return of the victims to their hometowns.
Twelve adult women and one child were repatriated to West Java on February 23, 2026.
The LPSK emphasized that the victims' return does not halt the legal process. The investigation and trial procedures can still be facilitated in accordance with applicable procedural law.
