Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and President Prabowo Subianto solidified a strategic partnership during a high-level meeting at Merdeka Palace on Friday (27/3/2026), focusing on regional stability and energy security in response to the escalating conflict in West Asia.

"In the face of current global uncertainty, the agreement between Malaysia and Indonesia becomes increasingly vital. We have agreed to walk hand-in-hand to strengthen strategic cooperation and bolster diplomacy," PM Anwar Ibrahim said, as cited by antaranews.com

The two leaders specifically addressed the pressures of the U.S.-Israel and Iran conflict has disrupted global energy supplies and economic stability. As two of Southeast Asia's largest economies, Malaysia and Indonesia pledged to lead a unified regional front to safeguard the welfare of their citizens and ensure economic resilience. 

Beyond geopolitics, the visit, which timed with the Eid al-Fitr celebrations, served to reinforce the cultural and fraternal "Serumpun" bonds between the two nations, with both leaders seeking constructive "common ground" to navigate the volatile international landscape.
