Inp.polri.go.id - Labuan Bajo. A search and rescue (SAR) team in Labuan Bajo located a Malaysian tourist who was swept away by ocean currents while snorkeling in the waters off Gili Lawa, part of the Komodo National Park in East Nusa Tenggara.
Fathur Rahman, the Head of the Maumere SAR Office, said on Sunday (29/6/2025) that the incident occurred around 6.45 am local time when the tourist, identified as Amirah Bazil (35), became separated from her group during a diving excursion from the Sea More Papua tourist boat.
SAR teams were promptly dispatched using a Rigid Inflatable Boat after the incident was reported to the West Manggarai SAR post. Fortunately, the victim was found safe by the crew of the speedboat Fenidea, who spotted her drifting and helped her ashore on Gili Lawa island.
“Amirah was in good health and chose to continue her vacation in Labuan Bajo,” said Fathur, as quoted by antaranews.com
