Inp.polri.go.id - Ambon. Maluku Regional Police Chief Inspector General Dadang Hartanto has issued a ban on the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 celebrations to maintain public order across the province.

The directive was delivered in Ambon on Friday (12/12/2025) amid reparations for the year-end festivities.

“The legal basis is clear under the old Criminal Code, and the new Criminal Code provides even stricter sanctions. This is a policy I will firmly enforce,” he asserted, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Chief Dadang explained that the ban applies during specific situations surrounding religious celebrations, when public mobility and communal activities increase. According to him, alcohol control is crucial to preventing disturbances to security and public order during Christmas and New Year.

Maluku Police will intensify patrols, tighten supervision of illegal alcohol distribution, and conduct public education alongside law enforcement. Local police offices have been instructed to carry out integrated operations, while the public is urged to report violations to ensure peaceful and safe celebrations.
