Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Meta has requested a deadline extension to meet with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs next week to discuss compliance regarding Government Regulation No. 17/2025 on Child Protection in Electronic Systems.
"We requested an extension and received approval to meet with the Ministry next week to discuss our plans concerning the PP Tunas regulation," said Meta’s Head of Public Policy for Indonesia and the Philippines, Berni Moestafa, on Friday (3/4/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
Meta responded to a second summons issued by the Ministry to tech giants Meta and Google for failing to attend initial compliance hearings. Authorities are intensifying oversight of platforms like Instagram and YouTube to ensure digital environments adhere to strict national standards for protecting minors from online risks.
Ministry officials emphasized that adherence to the child safety mandate is a vital responsibility rather than a mere administrative formality. Meta has pledged to present its strategic roadmap for platform safety, aiming to align its operations with Indonesian law while safeguarding younger users across its various social media networks.
