Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police have arrested a man accused of shooting a civil security officer, better known as Hansip, dead while attempting to steal a motorcycle in West Calung, East Jakarta.

The suspect, identified only as R, was detained while trying to flee to Lampung.

“The suspect,who shot a Hansip officer in Cakung, was arrested by the Metro Jaya Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit,” said Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, the Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations, on Sunday (9/11/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.

Suspect R was caught at Bakauheni Port, South Lampung, while attempting to cross to Sumatra.

 “Our team is pursuing another suspect and the firearm used in the shooting,” Chief Budi added.

The incident occurred early Saturday around 3.20 am in Kampung Baru, West Cakung, when the victim, identified as AS (42), tried to stop the thieves from stealing a motorcycle. The victim was fatally shot in the left abdomen with what police believe was a homemade firearm.
