Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police Cyber Sub-directorate of the Special Crimes Directorate arrested a man, who is suspected of hacking into Smartfren's server, causing the company a loss of Rp3 50 million.

Senior Superintendent Ade Safri Simanjuntak, the Director of Special Crimes at the Metro Jaya Police, confirmed on Thursday (29/8/24) that the case was uncovered following a report from the legal representative of PT Smartfren Telecom, who noticed anomalous top-up transactions between 25 June and 10 July 2024.

These suspicious transactions, occurring on multiple dates, led to significant financial losses for Smartfren. Based on the report filed on 12 July 2024, the police conducted an investigation, ultimately identifying SH as the main suspect.

The suspect, identified as SH  (28), has been charged under multiple articles of the Information and Electronic Transactions Law (UU ITE).
