Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police were working to ease severe traffic congestion around Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta following a spike in container loading and unloading activity since Wednesday night (17/4/2025).
“We’re trying to ease the gridlock, but trucks are stuck with nowhere to go. This could last until tonight,” said Superintendent Argo Wiyono, Metro Jaya Police Deputy Director of Traffic, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Police are opening alternate toll exits to divert smaller vehicles, as large trucks remain immobile. The congestion is tied to simultaneous cargo deliveries after Eid traffic restrictions were lifted.
Port operator Pelindo Regional 2 apologized, saying the buffer zone could not accommodate the truck surge. Por Executive General Manager Adi Sugiri explained the volume increase was also driven by businesses rushing deliveries ahead of the long weekend.
