Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo announced on Friday (17/5/2025) free public transport for women on Kartini Day on 21 April 2025, a day that honors Raden Ajeng Kartini, a pioneer of women’s rights and education in Indonesia.

“On 21 April 2025, all women can ride public transport in Jakarta for free — MRT, LRT, Transjakarta — except taxis,” he said on Thursday (17/4/2025).

The city will also waive fares for everyone on 24 April 2025, coinciding with the National Transportation Day and the launch of a new Transjabodetabek route connecting Blok M in Jakarta and Alam Sutera in Tangerang.

Jakarta Transportation Agency previously tested the new route on 15 April 2025, with an estimated travel time of 1.5 hours.

The new service will pass major roads including Sisingamangaraja, Sudirman, Semanggi, Gatot Subroto, and the Merak toll road before reaching Alam Sutera.

Governor Pramono emphasized the move as part of efforts to encourage public transport use and celebrate inclusive access for all.
