inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Law, Supratman Andi Agtas, highlighted the importance of creating a strong music royalty ecosystem. He confirmed his commitment to comprehensively reforming the royalty management system in Indonesia.

According to him, the stages start from creation, legal protection, and transformation of the revenue system.

"There are at least three important things in maintaining the royalty ecosystem in music," he said, as reported by RRI on Saturday (10/11/2025).

Andi Agtas said that a healthy ecosystem will open up great opportunities for Indonesian musicians. He believes that a fair system will encourage the sustainable birth of new musical works. Therefore, cross-ministerial collaboration is key to strengthening the music industry chain.

"The government is present to ensure that policies and regulations support a fair and transparent system," he said.

The government is now implementing Minister of Law Regulation Number 27 of 2025. The regulation regulates in detail the division of roles in the national music royalty management system.

He also said that composers, copyright holders, and related parties are subjects of legal protection.

"My duty as Minister of Law is to provide protection to those who are entitled," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian Music Association (APMI), Dino Hamid, emphasized the need for comprehensive education regarding music copyright.

According to him, many industry players do not yet understand the proper royalty payment process.

"Many promoters have spent large sums on permits, but they don't understand the copyright system. Therefore, outreach, education, and simplification of licensing must be increased immediately," he explained.

Dino Hamid is pushing for more user-friendly regulations for businesses in the music sector. He believes that good education will strengthen awareness and compliance with the royalty system.
