Inp.polri.go.id - Beijing. Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and representatives from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), was scheduled to engage in discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to address the Gaza conflict.
"A delegation of foreign ministers from Arab and Islamic countries will visit China on November 20-21. Members of the delegation include Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning confirmed on Monday (20/11/23).
The delegation comprised Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki, and OIC Secretary General Hossein Brahim Taha.
"China will engage in comprehensive communication and coordination with the delegation, addressing avenues to alleviate the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, ensure the protection of civilians, and pursue a just resolution to the Palestinian issue," the spokeswoman said.
Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and Nigeria, has been mandated by the OIC to support the political process aimed at achieving peace between Israel and Palestine. This mandate stems from the resolutions adopted during the OIC Extraordinary Summit on 11 November 2023.
OIC leaders have called on the UN Security Council to draft a resolution for an immediate cessation of hostilities, facilitate humanitarian aid, and uphold international law in the region.
