Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Indonesia has reaffirmed the importance of the world in pushing an armistice for Israel-Hamas wars. During UN General Assembly in New York, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi stressed that a ceasefire that has been agreed between Israel and Hamas is not enough. “We need (permanent) ceasefire. Without it, it will be difficult to do the rest to save lives and for aid agencies to work in Gaza,” calls Retno in her speech on Tuesday (11/28/2023). She invites all countries to further intensify their aids for victims in Gaza and ensure that those aids are received with ease. “We must support UNRWA and other humanitarian agencies to help 1.7 million Palestinians forcibly displaced in Gaza. Indonesia is committed to scaling up assistance including by deploying our floating hospital,” urge Minister Retno. On Monday (11/27/2023), Qatar as the mediator of the two warring groups announced that Israel and Hamas would extend the ceasefire until Wednesday, 29th November, 2023. The conflicts between the two long standing enemies has re-escalated on October 7th. The war has killed at least 15,000 Palestinians including women and children, while there are 1,200 Israeli died during the war. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
